DESCRIPTION:Scholarship Essay Announcement \nTri-Counties Community Center is proud to announce\, for the first time\, a $500.00 scholarship\nopportunity for all high school students to help prepare for their future in higher education.\nThis Scholarship will be known as the Excellence In Volunteerism Award and will be offered to\nHigh School Students based on “Why it is important to give back to my community”\nRules:\n❖ Essays contest will begin November 15 \, 2023\, and conclude December 16 \, 2023.\n❖ All essays must be submitted to Tri-Counties Community Center by mail or Email. And\nreceived no later than December 16th . Any entries submitted after this date will not be\neligible for the scholarship.\n❖ e-mail entries to events.tricc@gmail.com or mail to : 1830 B Street\, Marysville CA\n95901.\n❖ Essays must be typed and single-spaced.\n❖ Essays must be at least 500 words and no more than 1000 words\n❖ Essay must be constructed in at least 5 paragraphs and no more than 10 paragraphs.\n❖ Essay must have an introduction\, a body and a conclusion.\n❖ Essay topic must be based on the topic of the scholarship award.\n❖ Tri-Counties Community Center Board Members and select volunteers will judge all\nentries submitted and choose the top three submissions.\nThe top 3 students\, will be invited to give a speech at our January 8\, 2024 Board Meeting.\nRules for Speech:\n❖ Speech must be based on the topic of “Why I Volunteer in my Community.”\n❖ Speech should be at least 5 minutes long and no more than 15 minutes.\n❖ Based on a combination of the student’s essay and the speech\, a winner will be\nselected.\n❖ Speech winners will be selected by the Tri-Counties Community Center Board Members\nand select volunteers to judge the speech portion of the contest.\n❖ Winner of the Scholarship will receive a check for $500\n❖ There will be only 1 winner for the $500 “Excellence in Volunteerism Award” Scholarship\n❖ 2nd & 3rd place winners will receive gift cards for their awards.\n❖ Winning Student will be announced on January 27\, 2024 at our Annual Gala and be\npresented with a check for $500 and awards for 2nd & 3rd place. \nTri-Counties Community Center is offering this Scholarship to promote the importance of\nvolunteerism in our youth and why communities thrive when their citizens are involved in the\nimprovement of their environment. We wish to reward those students who give freely of their\ntime to benefit others
